Hello, I'm Rod

I'm the co-founder and MD of Trainers' Library with more than 30 years experience designing and facilitating innovative and impactful learning and development.

I passionately believe that the purpose of learning should always be change - a change in beliefs, attitude and behaviours. In my view, learning that does not result in real change, particularly in the work environment, is a waste of time, resources and money.

And I'm passionate too about the importance of learner-led experiential learning. Too many people in our profession design passive learning experiences - often relying on slide decks or other knowledge transfer tools. Knowledge transfer is not the same as learning - I create and facilitate active learning that people will remember, be inspired by and act upon!

Train the Trainer
Through my own consultancy, I specialise in helping trainers and facilitators:

• Better understand the learning journey, the role of stakeholders and how to engage all stakeholders.

• Understand the importance of Retention, Inspiration and Action in the learning journey.

• Design truly creative training solutions that people will remember.

• Create a learning space that is effective and psychologically safe for all participants.

• Facilitate and effectively debrief experiential, learner-led learning that engages and inspires.

• Measure the impact of what they do and demonstrate the value they add.

I also run in-house virtual team development events (normally half-days) using the unique catalogue of activities I've developed over 30 years for Trainers' Library.
