Keynote Speaking
Sharing my passion for learning in ways that entertain and are simple to understand.
Why retention, inspiration and action are at the heart of successful learning.
I developed my model Retention, Inspiration and Action as a simple way to explain the three key phases of successful learning and development. First we have to remember the learning experience, then we have to be inspired by it - which means it has to be relevant and connect with us and our real lived experiences. And finally, that inspiration has to result in action - a change in behaviours.
Trainers as Agents of Change
Ask trainers the purpose of their role, and you'll likely get a range of responses including - "to provide information" (yuk), "to provide skills", "to develop people" - and a whole range of other, equally wooly responses. The truth is the purpose of training can be explained in one word - change.
Indeed, any training intervention that doesn't result in a change in beliefs, attitudes and/or behaviours is, at best, a form of compliance, and always a waste of time, money and resources. As well as a wasted opportunity.
What a Horse Taught Me About Learning and Leadership
When I was 45 and with no previous experience, I did something that seemed crazy. I bought a young, unhandled horse and trained and backed it myself using natural horsemanship skills I developed as I went - and continue to develop.
Not only was it one of the most life-changing and rewarding experiences of my life, what it taught me about leadership, communication, partnership and trust has been invaluable.
I love sharing my passion for learning - and leadership.
And I'll do so in a way that engages the audience. Here some example themes around which I can develop a one-hour keynote presentation:
